Getting to downtown West Palm Beach without a car

The short answer

Getting to downtown West Palm Beach without a car: West Palm Move, the City's all-electric service run with Via, has a $1 fixed route between the Norton Museum of Art and Northwood Village and $2 on-demand rides, and takes no cash. Brightline stops at 260 Quadrille Plaza Drive, Tri-Rail at 203 South Tamarind Avenue, and Palm Tran Route 2 runs from Tri-Rail to the airport, free with a Tri-Rail fare.

You can reach downtown West Palm Beach, Florida by train, bus, bike or boat, and get around it on the City’s own transit service. This page sets out each option with the fares, hours and addresses its operator publishes, checked on October 20, 2026. It also explains why so many pages still describe a downtown trolley that no longer runs.

West Palm Move, the City’s service

The City says West Palm Move, a fixed-route and on-demand network it runs with Via, replaced the RideWPB pilot, which ended May 31, 2026. The fixed route began September 8 and on-demand service September 15. The fixed route runs north to south between the Norton Museum of Art and Northwood Village, with stops including downtown and Clematis, CityPlace, Palm Beach Atlantic University and Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Why older pages still mention a trolley

Search for a West Palm Beach trolley and most results are news stories from 2021 to 2023, from the years when trolleys ran downtown at no charge. The City’s FAQ now says West Palm Move is a new City service, separate from previous trolley operations, and its fixed route costs $1. One City page has not caught up: the Directions and Parking page still says a trolley runs round-trip at no charge from Clematis Street to the shopping district now called CityPlace. The West Palm Move pages are the current word, and RideWPB, the pilot in between, ended May 31, 2026.

To and from the airport

The Palm Beach County Department of Airports says the airport was officially renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport on July 9, 2026, as required by Chapter 2026-15, Laws of Florida. It says the IATA code stayed PBI until August 18, 2026, then changes to DJT; the FAA identifier is now DJT and the ICAO identifier KDJT. The Department lists the airport at 1000 James L. Turnage Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33406, (561) 471-7400. It says the name change does not alter ownership or operational control, and that the website stays pbia.org during the transition (Department of Airports).

Without a car, Tri-Rail says Palm Tran Route 2 runs from the West Palm Beach Station to the airport free with a valid Tri-Rail fare, and trips from the airport to the station do not require a purchased fare. We did not find an official distance from the airport to downtown, so we do not give one.
