Clematis Street is the downtown West Palm Beach street that meets the Waterfront on Flagler Drive. The City’s history page names it among the city’s shopping and entertainment districts, and the City’s civic buildings sit on it. This page walks it block by block with what City and operator pages say is there, what closes it and where to park. We checked everything on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

Where Clematis Street is

Clematis Street starts at Flagler Drive on the Intracoastal Waterway. At that end it splits into North and South Clematis Street around the Waterfront green, and the City gives the Waterfront’s epicenter as 100 Clematis Street. From there the numbers climb as you walk west: Palm Beach Dramaworks at 201, City Hall at 401, the Mandel Public Library at 411 and the City’s Sapodilla Garage at 645. Every distance on this site is measured from Clematis Street at Flagler Drive.

GreenMarket Saturdays close the 100 to 400 blocks

The City says that on market days the 100 to 400 blocks of Clematis, plus Olive, Dixie and Flagler between Banyan and Datura, are closed from 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The market runs Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., from October 3, 2026 to May 22, 2027, with no market February 6 or March 20, 2027. Everything else about it is on the GreenMarket page.

Clematis by Night at the foot of the street

Clematis by Night is a concert series, not a market. The City describes it as a weekly series every Thursday, 6 to 9 p.m., on the Great Lawn, and lists the shows at Centennial Square and the Great Lawn, where Clematis meets the Waterfront. The concerts are free. The City lists no concert on Thursday, November 26, 2026 (Thanksgiving) or Thursday, December 24, 2026, and has posted no 2027 dates. The lineup is on our events page.

For places to eat and shop on and near Clematis, see our restaurants and shopping pages. Each listing comes from the business’s own site with the date we checked; we do not copy ratings from review sites. On Saturdays the GreenMarket’s prepared-food vendors add more choice at the Waterfront end.

South of Clematis, CityPlace describes itself as an experiential neighborhood in the heart of downtown with more than 50 shops and restaurants, next to the Brightline station; its address is 700 South Rosemary Avenue. The City’s West Palm Move fixed route, $1 a ride, links the two, with stops including downtown and Clematis and CityPlace on its run between the Norton Museum of Art and Northwood Village.

A little sourced history

The Historical Society of Palm Beach County says the original town was laid out in a grid of forty-eight blocks, with streets named alphabetically after local plants, running from Lake Worth on the east to Clear Lake on the west and from Althea (now Second Street) on the north to Fern Street on the south. Palm Beach County says the first county government meetings were held in an old four-room schoolhouse at the corner of Clematis Street and Dixie Highway.
